Source not found when opening a shot list

You see: Source not found, reading "Could not find:" with the video's path and "Locate …?", with Relink… and Cancel. Or shot rows hatched in red, with the tooltip "This shot's video file is offline. Click the shot to relink it." On a reel, the clip plays as black, and the problems list says the file is offline and blocks export.

Why: A shot list stores where each video was, not the video itself. When it opens, Shotwork looks for each video at the same place relative to the shot list, and at its full path. A video moved or renamed on its own, or on a drive that is not connected, is in neither place.

Fix:

1. If the video is on a drive that is not connected, connect it and open the shot list again.
2. Otherwise, choose Relink….
3. Pick the video where it is now. The file picker starts in the nearest folder of the old path that still exists.
4. If Different file warns that the file "doesn't look like the file this project was marked against", choose No unless you know it is the same cut: frame numbers in a re-render may not line up.
5. Save the shot list, so it remembers the new place.

Other missing videos in the same folder are found without asking, and every open reel that uses them comes back at once.

If that didn't work: If you chose Cancel, click any red-hatched shot to be asked again, or right-click an offline clip on a reel and choose Relink Source…. To keep this from happening, keep a shot list and its videos in one folder tree and move them together. See If a video has moved.
