Export stills

Still export is not built. Roadmap, reel feature backlog, "Still export".

Portfolio sites want stills as much as clips. Shotwork writes one still per interest point you marked, the frames you already said were worth keeping, so there is nothing new to choose.

Before you start

  • A shot list with shots. A shot with interest points gives a still for each point; a shot with none gives one representative frame.
  • ffmpeg, which Shotwork offers to fetch if it does not have it yet.

Steps

  1. Choose File › Export… (Ctrl+E).
  2. Pick Stills as what to export.
  3. Pick the scope: All shots, Selected shots or Filtered / visible shots.
  4. Edit the Filename template. It takes the same keys as clips, plus {frame} for the still's frame number.
  5. Set the Output folder, and choose Export.

What happens

Each still is a PNG at the source's own frame size, taken at exactly the marked frame. Beside the stills, a metadata folder records which shot and frame each one came from, the way exported clips are described.
