shot list A .shotwork document: one or more sources, and the shots marked in them. Marking shots
reel A .swreel document: clips arranged on a timeline, with music and overlays. Building a reel
source A video file a shot list marks shots in. Open a video
shot An in point and an out point on a source, with the details you enter about it. Mark in and out points
clip A shot placed on a reel. Add shots
in point, out point The first and last frame of a shot. Mark in and out points
playhead The marker for the current frame. Move around a source
playback range The stretch of a timeline shown and, when looping, played; set with the range slider. Move around a source
interest point A frame marked with P as worth keeping. The span a shot's points cover is its interest range. Interest points
project The production a shot came from: the Project field. Never the document itself. Describe a shot
client The studio or client a shot was made for: the Client / Studio field. Describe a shot
restricted A shot flagged as not cleared for public use. Describe a shot
field preset The set of metadata fields a new shot list starts with, per discipline. Field presets
detect shots Letting Shotwork find the cuts in a source and propose a shot for each. Detect shots
library The Library window, and the shot lists, reels, values, logos and songs it tracks. The Library window
reorder, trim, roll, slide, replace The five edits on a reel timeline. Arrange clips
ripple, slip A trim that moves every later clip with it; a change to which part of a shot a clip plays, without moving the clip. Arrange clips
snap, snapping Edges pulling to beats, other clips' edges, interest points and the budget line. Arrange clips
holds for How long a clip plays on the reel. Holds and shortening
budget The reel's length limit, set with Limit to. Set a length budget
song A music file in your music library, or on a reel. Music
music lane The row under the clips that shows the reel's songs. Music
beat, downbeat, beat grid The beats found in a song, the first beat of each bar, and the marks the analysis draws under the music lane. Beats and downbeats
downbeat engine The optional download that finds real downbeats. Downbeat engine
fade in, fade out A ramp from or to black at a clip's edge. The shape drawn on the clip is its fade wedge. Fades
cut, dip to black, cross-dissolve The three ways two clips on a reel can meet. Transitions
title card A full-frame card on a reel that renders an overlay template. Image and color cards hold a picture or a solid color. Cards
overlay template A layout of text, images and metadata tags laid over clips. Build an overlay template
template band The row on the reel timeline showing which template applies where. Overlay templates
override A template set on one clip in place of the reel's own. Overlay templates
feature A tile in the reel's Features tab: a fade, music, a card or a template. Building a reel
detail panel The panel on the right of a shot-list tab that holds the selected shot's details. Describe a shot
viewer The video area in the middle of the window. Marking shots
source timeline The timeline under the viewer on a shot-list tab. Move around a source
reel timeline The timeline on a reel tab. Arrange clips
hotkey A keyboard binding. Every one can be changed. Hotkeys
