Suggested tags and names are not built. Roadmap, Phase 5, AI vision: auto-tagging and auto-naming.

Describing hundreds of shots is the slowest part of marking. Shotwork looks at a shot's frames and suggests tags from the words you already use, and a name, for you to accept or turn down.

How it works

  • Tags come from your own vocabulary. Shotwork compares a shot's frames with the tags you already use across your library, such as a creature type, a kind of motion or a shot scale, and suggests the ones that fit.
  • A name comes separately, from a model that describes what is in the frames.
  • Every suggestion is marked as one, with how confident Shotwork is, and changes nothing until you accept it.
  • It runs on your computer by default. The models are an optional download, fetched with your permission like the downbeat engine, and your footage never leaves the machine.
  • A cloud option uses an AI service with your own account and key, and is clearly labeled as sending frames off your computer. Shotwork never requires a key and never supplies one.

What this means when you…

  • …accept a suggestion: it becomes an ordinary tag or name, the same as one you typed.
  • …turn one down: nothing is written.
  • …have few tags yet: suggestions can only be tags you already use, so tag some shots by hand first.
  • …work on restricted footage: keep to the suggestions made on your computer. The cloud option is labeled because it sends frames elsewhere.
  • Describe a shot for tagging and naming by hand.
  • Detect shots for letting Shotwork find the shots first.
  • AI assistant for connecting an assistant, which works from your shots' details rather than their frames.
