Connect ChatGPT

Shotwork cannot connect to ChatGPT yet. Designed in roadmap.md, Ideas Parking Lot, "MCP client coverage".

When you finish, ChatGPT can search your library and build reels from it, the same way Claude Desktop does.

ChatGPT connects to a library by its address. So where Shotwork writes Claude Desktop's settings for you, with ChatGPT you copy an address out of Shotwork and add it in ChatGPT.

Before you start

  • ChatGPT, signed in.
  • The shot lists you want it to see, listed in the Library window.

Steps

  1. Choose File › Connect an AI Assistant….
  2. Under Assistants, find the ChatGPT row.
  3. Copy the address the row shows.
  4. In ChatGPT's settings, add a new connector and paste the address.
  5. Ask ChatGPT: What's in my Shotwork library?

What happens

ChatGPT asks Shotwork the same four things Claude Desktop does, and Shotwork applies the same checks to every answer:

  • Restricted shots stay out of searches and timelines unless you ask for them.
  • Everything it builds lands in Shotwork Reels in your home folder.
  • It reads your library and cannot change it.

What ChatGPT receives is the same text Claude Desktop receives: names, tags, ratings, notes and fields, never footage.
