A clip or a reel failed to exportΒΆ

You see: In Batch Export, a cross on a line with ffmpeg's error, and a summary such as "79 succeeded, 1 failed". Or, from Export Video, Could not export with the end of ffmpeg's log.

Why: Each clip, and each reel video, is one run of ffmpeg, and ffmpeg's own error is the reason shown. The usual causes are a video that has moved or cannot be read, a full disk, an output folder you cannot write to, or an output file open in another program.

Fix:

  1. Read the error on the failed line, or the last lines of Could not export.
  2. If a video has moved, relink it. See Source not found when opening shot selects.
  3. Check the output folder: that it exists, that you can write there, and that the disk has room.
  4. Close any program that has the output file open, such as a video player.
  5. Choose Export again. Files that already exist are listed before they are overwritten.

If that didn't work: In Export Video, turn on Detailed (raw ffmpeg output) and render again to see every line ffmpeg writes, and copy the last of them into a problem report. See Export shots and Export a reel as video.
