Images as shots¶
Not built yet
Still images as shots are not built. Roadmap, Ideas Parking Lot, "Images as first-class shots".
Not all portfolio work moves. A model render, a lookdev frame or a concept painting is a shot too: Shotwork imports still images as shots you describe, rate and filter like any other, and puts them on a reel for as long as you choose.
Before you start¶
- The images, as PNG, JPEG, BMP or WebP files. See Supported media.
Steps¶
- Choose File › Import Clips… (Ctrl+I) and select the images, or File › Import Clips from Folder… and select a folder of them.
- Read the summary, and choose the add button.
- Describe, tag and rate the new shots as usual. See Describe a shot.
Each image becomes a source with one shot, named after its file, and its thumbnail is the image itself.
What happens¶
- An image shot has no length of its own. On a reel it holds for a default length, and Holds for sets any other.
- Everything that works on shots works on it: the filter box, the reel's shot picker, draft reels and AI assistants.
- Export Shots writes it as a still clip of the chosen length, with its metadata file beside it.
- It is a shot, not a slideshow. Each image is one shot, and the reel decides how long it holds and what comes before and after it.
Related¶
- Import clips for video files that are already shots.
- Cards for an image on a reel that is not a shot, such as a logo or a title.
- Holds and shortening for how long a clip plays.
