Marking faster¶
Review detected shots without the mouse¶
After Detect shots fills the list:
- Press Shift+Alt+Right. The playhead lands on the next shot's in point and that shot is selected.
- Press Space to watch it, or Del if it does not belong.
- Press Shift+Alt+Right again for the next one.
While a shot is selected, Shift+I and Shift+O jump to its in and out points to check the edges, and S splits it at the playhead when it is really two shots.
Mark while it plays¶
- I and O do two jobs. With nothing selected they start a new shot. With one shot selected they move that shot's in or out point instead. Press U to deselect before you mark the next shot. See Mark in and out points.
- Draw a shot in one gesture. Hold Shift and drag across the source timeline, even over a shot that is already there.
- P never needs a selection. It drops an interest point at the playhead, and any shot that contains that frame picks it up. See Interest points.
Get around a source¶
- Double-click a shot's band on the source timeline to jump to its in point. The selection stays as it was.
- Click the shot that is already selected in the list to jump back to its in point after wandering off.
- Ctrl+L cycles the loop: off, the playback range, then the shot under the playhead.
- Double-click the playback range slider to see the whole source. Double-click it again to get the range you had back.
- Over the source timeline, the wheel steps a frame. Hold Ctrl and scroll to pan, or Alt to zoom around the pointer. Middle-drag pans too.
Move around a source has the rest of the timeline's gestures.
Describe many shots at once¶
- Select, then edit once. Ctrl-click or Shift-click rows, then change a field in the detail panel. The change lands on every selected shot.
- Copy a shown value to the whole selection. A field whose value differs across the selection is tinted. Click into it and press Enter without typing, and the value it shows is set on all of them.
- Rate from the keyboard. Tab to the stars and press a number from 0 to 5. The arrow keys add or take away a star.
- Filter as you go. In the filter box,
rating:3keeps shots rated three stars or more,-tag:wipleaves out anything taggedwip, and quotes keep a phrase together. See Organize shots. - Select from the bottom up. Drag upward from the empty space under the last row.
See Describe a shot for every field.
Right-click menus on the shot-list tab¶
| Right-click | You get |
|---|---|
| A shot row | Delete Shot, Duplicate Shot and Reveal in File Browser. With several shots selected, the labels count them, for example Delete 3 Shots. |
| A video's header row | Open This Video, Collapse or Expand, Detect Shots…, Reveal in File Browser, and Remove Video… with its shot count in the label. |
| A shot's band on the source timeline | Split Shot at Frame with the frame number. It splits at the playhead, not where you clicked. |
| An interest point | Remove Point. Double-clicking the point removes it too. |
