Import clips¶
If your shots are already separate files, rendered out of another application, you do not need to mark them. Import them and each file becomes a shot spanning its whole length.
Steps¶
- Choose File › Import Clips… (Ctrl+I) and select the files, or File › Import Clips From Folder… and select a folder.
- Wait while Shotwork reads each file. The dialog counts through them.
- Read the summary. It reports how many clips are ready, how many were already in the shot list, and how many could not be read.
- Choose Add Clips.
What happens¶
Each clip becomes a source with one shot covering all of it. From there it behaves like anything else you marked: rate it, tag it, put it on a reel.
Clips that Shotwork itself exported come back with their metadata, because the export wrote it alongside them. A clip from anywhere else arrives with its filename and nothing more.
The dialog lists anything it could not use, rather than skipping it quietly:
- Already in the shot list, matched by content rather than filename, so a renamed copy is still recognized as a duplicate.
- Unreadable files.
- Variable frame rate files. These are flagged because a variable rate has no single answer to "which frame is this", which is the guarantee the rest of Shotwork depends on.
