Templates and the Library, faster

In the template editor

  • Scroll to resize. Select an item, then scroll anywhere over the canvas. Text grows or shrinks by 2 pixels a notch and images by 0.05 of their scale. The wheel acts on the selected item, not whatever is under the pointer.
  • Alt-middle-drag to resize the item under the pointer. Drag right to grow it and left to shrink it.
  • Nudge with the arrow keys. The selected item moves one pixel, or ten with Shift held. Click the canvas first so it has focus.
  • Enter never closes the editor. It commits the field you are in and moves to the next one.
  • Right-click an item for Remove Item.
  • Design against a real frame. Background Shot… loads a frame from one of your shots and fills every tag with that shot's values. Clear puts the placeholders back, which also brings back a tag that the shot left empty.
  • Open the editor on one template from the reel. Right-click its stretch of the template band and choose Edit “Lower Third”…, or right-click a title card and choose Edit “Lower Third” Template…. Each shows the template's own name.

See Build an overlay template.

In the Library window

  • Esc closes it, and it reopens on the view you left.
  • Right-click a value or a logo for Shot Lists and Reels submenus listing everything that uses it, or a shot list in Files for the reels built from it. Choose one and it opens as a tab behind the Library, which stays open.
  • Scan Folder… registers every shot list and reel under a folder at once.
  • Drag shots from the Shots view straight onto a reel. It is the same browser as the reel's shot picker, with the same filter.
  • Refresh a reel's picker after marking shots in another tab: those shots appear once you click the picker's refresh button.
  • In the Logos view, double-click a row's Stands for cell to assign the logo to a value, or its Categories cell to sort it.

See The Library window.

Logos from the detail panel

  • The logo button beside Client / Studio opens the logo picker for that value.
  • The plus button in the picker adds an image from disk and chooses it at once, with no Apply needed.
  • The search button in the picker searches the web for that studio's logo in your browser.
